Opensource Opencourseware Prototype System (OOPS)

Due to the implement of technology in education, it becomes increasingly convenient no matter for pupils, teenagers and adults. Opensource Opencourseware Prototype System(OOPS:http://www.myoops.org/main.php), is a platform which provides open courses of world top universities like MIT, Yale University, Harvard University, Cambridge, Princeton University etc.. And there are some other websites in China provides the open course for free like http://open.163.com/. And all the courses vary from linguistics to biology and from music to literature.

This is another form of MOOC or e-learning . It aims to help lifelong learning instead of school knowledge. Lifelong learners can now use various tools to build and manage their own learning networks, and MOOCs may provide opportunities to test such networks (Fini. A. 2009). All the courses are at a high quality which can expand their horizons in different fields. These update knowledge related something new with latest technology and scientific direction and gains which enables audience get in touch with newest things.  People can not only find a scientific course but also find some life enlightening courses like telling audience what is true value of life and how to keep an active and optimistic attitude towards life. From this point of view, MOOC resulting from ICT is very helpful to lifelong learning.

  1. Wei, I really wondered whether participants of these open courses from different universities at OOPS can have a degree or some kind of a certificate after the completion? Or do they just provide a learning platform which the learners can use for self-development? Do the instructors provide any kind of feedback about the learners' progress?

    1. Thank you for your interest in it. Well, the platform is just for people who wants to learn more new knowledge. Audience can not get a certificate. No one will inform audience that he should study at a certain time. All the courses are video taken from world renowned universities. As I mentioned, courses vary from science to arts, introducing what is going on in the world. In our spare time, some people spend time on facebook or travelling. And also some people who want to know something scientific and latest, so they can watch the video.
